We are not Pro-Life. We stand for Abolition. We stand on God’s Word.

As a church ministry dedicated to upholding the value of human life given by God when he creates all human beings in His image. We need to distinguish ourselves from the Pro-Life thought, organizations, lobbyists and theories. We share the pro-life standpoint that abortion is morally wrong. However, we go beyond this viewpoint to assert that abortion is a grave sin, no different than murder and child sacrifice and should be treated accordingly. While forgiveness is attainable through Christ for those involved in abortion, this does not imply its legality nor does it diminish the imperative to establish justice.

Abolition refers to ‘the formal act of putting an end to, annulling’ something. We ought to be for the Total and Immediate Abolition of Abortion as Murder. Which means we are for the total, complete, (with no exceptions) and immediate, (not incrementally) ending of any and all forms of abortion. But we have to be consistent. If abortion is murder, which it is, and the laws against murder are going to be equally applied to all humans, it follows that murder of the unborn must be criminalised. Protecting all humans from murder requires prohibiting abortion completely. And if a life is taken unjustly as it happens in an abortion, there must be justice established through criminalisation.

It is extremely important to note that we are in a spiritual battle when we dip our toe into the issue of abortion. We/Christians are up against almost everyone when we are trying to be consistent and view abortion the way God views it. We are to note that in the USA, the church which has lobbied and drafted Legislation to abolish abortion has met a strange and peculiar enemy. One which surprised them, and that enemy was the Pro-Life establishment. Politicians, mayors and governors who stand unapologetically on Pro-Life stages turned down, voted against and stood in the way of Bills for Abolitionment. Fear of losing voters, funding and repercussions causes these leaders to be a stumbling block when striving for equal rights for all humans.Mainly, the issue of criminalisation, which was mentioned in the last paragraph, causes these organisations to shy away from actually putting an end to the evil of abortion. They, foundationally, do not view the act of murder in a consistent way, thereore not willing to criminalise women, men and medical professionals who commit the crime. Seeing the woman as victims of a unfortunate decision, abortion as a sub sect of the health care industry and other flaws cause this damage. We ought not to partner with or share such ideologies in our thinking or our words to avoid being led into Biblical inconsistencies.

The pivotal term in the first paragraph is "sin." Recognising abortion as a sin carries significant implications for our approach to combating it. Acknowledging it as a sin signifies that the ultimate remedy lies in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Throughout scripture, a recurring theme emerges: humanity's efforts are insufficient to overcome darkness; only God, often working through His people, has the power to conquer evil.

THE REMEDY LIES IN THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM

The gospel encompasses more than the forgiveness of sins, encompassing justification before God, and reconciliation with Him. It encompasses Jesus' life, miracles, teachings, and His imminent judgment, as well as His death and resurrection. Paul's writings in 1 Corinthians emphasize not just Christ's crucifixion and resurrection, but also His reign—the gospel of the kingdom. The clash between these two kingdoms advances through souls being redeemed and darkness receding.

Abolitionists confront the culture of death with the gospel of Christ's kingdom. We champion Christ's kingdom of justice and mercy against the world's dominion of sin and death, proclaiming God's wisdom over human folly. This proclamation compels repentance and belief in the Saviour who reconciles us with God and will ultimately restore all things.

Abortion, a manifestation of evil, stands as the shedding of innocent blood and the work of the devil. Christ's mission included its destruction (1 John 3:8). Consequently, this aligns with the gospel message. Jesus vanquished death through His crucifixion (2 Tim 1:10), and as His followers, we are tasked with opposing the culture of death (Eph 5:8-14, Rom 16:20, Rev 12:11).

The pervasive impact of sin necessitates the restoration of all creation, a promise God makes in Revelation 21:5. Eradicating abortion must center on the gospel, expanding to counteract the curse wherever it resides— within our churches, hospitals, schools, and within our legislature.

THE CHURCH HOLDS THE SOLUTION

If abortion is a sin and the gospel is the antidote, the responsibility to combat the darkness of abortion falls upon those entrusted with the gospel: the Church (Matthew 28:19-20). While individuals outside the Church can support just causes, this movement is inherently Christian. The Church which is the elect of God, not just a select few, is called to address this issue. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10. These are works done, not in our own strength and for our own benefit, but by the grace of God and in obedience to Him – led by the Holy Spirit, to God's glory. Inaction amid a holocaust contradicts the Church's purpose. The story of the good Samaritan teaches the universality of our duty to help those in need, transcending individual abilities or callings.

In modern society, abortion's presence is pervasive, whether in abortion clinics, hospitals, or pharmacies. The obligation to confront this evil and guide people to the solution rests upon us. This entails visiting places where abortion is known to be prevalent and places where it is committed, to plead for unborn lives and extending assistance to expectant parents. The clash between the gospel and abortion's sins must be evident in our actions.

THE BIBLE INSTRUCTS US ON THE SOLUTION

Our actions, as we confront evil with the gospel, draw guidance from the infallible Word of God. Scripture governs every aspect of a Christian's life (2 Tim 3:16-17, Acts 17:11). If the Bible reveals God's plan to eradicate sin, then our efforts should mirror His intentions. The Abolitionist Movement adheres strictly to Scripture.

Just as Christ and the prophets demanded repentance from rulers, we must do the same. Our call for justice aligns with biblical principles. We cannot selectively legislate abortion but must address it comprehensively. This contrasts starkly with pro-life leaders who exclude God's Word from their activism. Abolitionists emphasize that our political conduct is accountable to Christ. Our principles rest upon the conviction that God's Word should underpin all aspects of life.

TRUSTING GOD TO IMPLEMENT THE SOLUTION

Abolitionists reject secular political advice that contradicts our biblical principles. Our allegiance lies with God's mandates, irrespective of political trends. We advocate for justice, trusting God to change hearts and minds.

Given that God's Word serves as our foundation, abolitionists rely on divine wisdom, not worldly pragmatism.  As John Quincy Adams, who himself was not a Christian, said during his seventeen-year fight in the House of Representatives to end slavery, “Duty is ours; results are God's” underscores our responsibility to obey God's commands while leaving the results to Him. Overcoming abortion requires spiritual faith in God's Word, promises, and prescriptions. The mention of John Quincy Adams should remind us of slavery in the USA and Great Britain. Where the evils of slavery was supported legislatively. Although is was the world view, grit and outworking of God’s word in Christians' lives, which eventually brought the end to this evil. Many Christians did not share the same condiments of their abolitionist brothers and sisters. Instead they lived passively with no conviction or faith that God would bless their hand if they tried, and may even grant them success in the abolishment of what they knew to be evil ie. slavery.

Today, no true believer would say abortion is permissible, although many of us have been so beaten down by the evil of our day, the government, sinful laws and ever-increasing constraints on Christian truths, that we feel discouraged to think God may bless our hand and grant our nation mercy and abolish abortion. It is no far thought to believe abortion is our great sin, one of which we have been silent and cowardly on, not dissimilar to when the church was silent in the USA and Great Britain in the 1700s and 1800s.

One of our brothers who has gone before us, Charles Spurgeon, was known for ministering the truth regarding the obvious evil of his day saying: “The hope of deliverance seemed far away, it was God that gave an Abraham Lincoln, who led the nation onward till ‘Emancipation’ flamed upon its banners” (MTP 29:243).

It was the professing Christian clergyman of his day who gave Charles the most persecution and character assassination. The following article appeared in an Alabama newspaper :

It reads, "Spurgeon is in danger of an auto-de-fé. The 'Montgomery Mail' (Alabama) says: "A Gentleman of this city requests us to invite, and we do hereby invite all persons in Montgomery who possess copies of the sermons of the notorious English abolitionist, Spurgeon, to send them to the jail yard to be burned on next Friday, this day week. A subscription is also on foot to buy of our booksellers all copies of said sermons now in their stores, to be burned on the same occasion. Does anybody say nay?""

Apparently, not many people said “Nay.” For it was recorded a few days later in a ledger:

"February 24, (1860), -- Several volumes of Rev. Mr. Spurgeon's sermons, strongly tinctured

with anti-slavery and abolition, were burned in the jail yard."

What would have happened if Spurgeon had visited the Southern states in 1860 as he planned to do? America might have executed him:

“If the Pharisaical author should ever show himself in these parts, we trust that a stout cord may speedily find its way around his eloquent throat” (“Mr. Spurgeon’s Sermons Burned by American Slaveowner”.

It is, therefore our duty to follow in the same spirit as our brothers and sisters did 200 years ago. Seeing the slavery of their day and not being passive or quiet. Repenting and following the great commission order of our Lord Jesus Christ to the full extent to which he calls us.

1 John 5:4-5 remind us that victory over the world stems from faith in Christ. Combating abortion's spiritual aspects underscores its eradication. Our reliance on God's Word guides our actions, as we work to eliminate the darkness of abortion.
